WTC Path Station

While working at the office of world-renowned architect Santiago Calatrava, Gemma played a key role in the development of the $3.2 billion World Trade Center Transportation Hub. This monumental 300,000 sf center serves as a critical nexus, connecting the PATH train, 13 MTA subway lines, the World Trade Center Memorial, Westfield World Trade Center Mall, and office towers at Ground Zero, designed to accommodate 250,000 daily commuters.

This project, which spanned 8 years of Gemma’s career, demonstrates her extensive experience in complex transportation architecture and her ability to contribute to large-scale, technically complex architectural endeavors that serve as vital urban infrastructure. It builds upon her earlier work on the Jakobsberg Train Station in Stockholm (completed while at Carl Bro), which won the Architectural Award Järfälla Kommuns Byggnadsmarke in 2006.
